Crispy Cauliflower Wings

Recently I posted a picture of these buffalo cauliflower wings on my Instagram and you all went crazy for them! I didn't write down a recipe while I was making them the first time, but since there was such a popular demand I went ahead and remade them today to provide you all an accurate recipe.

These are quick and easy to make and they come out super crispy thanks to the panko breadcrumbs. A lot of people, myself included, have trouble when first making cauliflower wings with the batter sliding off in the oven. This batter is thick enough that, with the help of the breadcrumbs, it sticks consistently to the wings and keeps all that coating on the cauliflower, and not on your baking tray. 

You can optionally add nutritional yeast to the coating for a nutty, cheesy flavor which is especially good if you're eating them plain. You can toss these in sauce or, to keep them super crispy, serve the with sauce on the side for dipping. 

Crispy Cauliflower Wings

Quick, crispy and delicious, these cauliflower wings are the perfect comfort food.

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened non-dairy milk
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flower
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 small head of cauliflower (about 1 1/2 cups chopped)
  • 3/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup nutritional yeast (optional)

Instructions:
  1. Preheat your oven to 415°F
  2. Cut cauliflower into bite sized florets
  3. In one bowl mix together your flour, non-dairy milk, cumin, salt, and pepper. In a separate bowl mix together your breadcrumbs and nutritional yeast (if using).
  4. Dip each floret into the batter mixture and then into the breadcrumb mixture to coat. Then place it on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
  5. Bake at 415°F for fifteen minutes, flip them, and bake for another 15 minutes. Toss them in BBQ sauce, hot sauce, or any other sauce of your choice just before serving. Or, to keep them extra crispy, serve with sauce on the side.
